The Glenora School of Fly Fishing is closing it's doors and headed west!

That's right... after a wonderful summer here in the finger lakes, were leaving our home next to the waterfall(sorry it's not for sale or rent...) and moving to Salem, Oregon. I have accepted a position with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife as the Statewide Aquatic and Angling Education Coordinator. A great opportunity to work in a new place and continuing to share the joys of angling education.

For now this blog will be used as a travel log as we head cross country.

Our contact information is still the same... till we know where we live!

Stay tuned!!!

Why take a scheduled class, when you can make your own

I do private and small group lessons. Get in touch with me and we'll custom tailor a class to meet your needs.

Here's what a recent private lesson said:

"... Thank you so much for the wonderful fly fishing experience.  Peter and I had an amazing time.  Your gracious hospitality and gentle approach to teaching made it a day we will never forget...."

From the fundamentals of fly fishing to tying full dressed salmon flies, I have pretty much taught it all.  All material included and you will also receive a copy of the school text,  "Student Manual of Fly Fishing" by Shahab Farzanegan and Phil Genova.

I charge $25 an hour and will work with up to a group of 4 people. There is a 2 hour minimum for private and small groups lessons. A 50% deposit is required at the time of scheduling.

Here's what they said about the class... this past Saturday!

Great time this weekend!!! Thanks for making it out.

Next Basic Class will be Saturday June 7th!

Here's what they said about the class:

"Shahab is a knowledgeable, patient teacher.  The class was perfect for the beginner such as myself.  It was a really fun day.  I plan to buy equipment and keep fishing!  I can't think of any improvements that should be made to the class - it was perfect as is."

"I think that the pace of today’s class was just right. I liked that we didn’t get bogged down in minor details, but still covered the basics. The simple approach really helped to keep everything clear and understandable."

"This was a great class for me. I thought you(Shahab) were very personable and knowledgeable as an instructor, and the small class size was very conducive to learning. Other than that I cannot think of anything to improve upon the workshop."

"I've also attached a picture of a 20"(+/-) inland brown I caught Sunday on that brown wooly bugger we tied."
